First post of '09

I'm not sure if anyone checks this blog anymore... But, there's this "25" random facts thing circulating. So, here is mine:

I have a little time on my hands and decided to do my own "25 Things". Then I decided to be different...so here are 26 random but true facts about me. They are NOT in order of importance.

1. I am known by my middle name. My first name is really Sandra.

2. I think I have a pretty good sense of humor.

3. I have somewhat recently been converted to Mac.

4. In my "humble" opinion when it comes to DSLR cameras...Nikon beats Canon hands down.

5. I fell in love with my (current) violin the first time I played it. After ten months...I'm still blown away that I get to own such an amazing instrument.

6. Speaking of violin I have been playing for 10+ years and am still learning and loving it more and more as time goes on.

7. Still speaking of violin... I wear my watch on my right hand because when I wear it on my left it gets in the way when I play.

8. Another "music" fact. When my mom was young, my grandpa started a family band with his kids. Since then the band has grown by leaps and bounds to include in-laws and grandkids. At the moment we're 16 players strong with my grandpa still at the helm. We enjoy going to various retirement homes throughout Kelowna with our southern gospel type music.

9. I have moved once in my life: from one end of the farm to the other.

10. 9 of my 10 siblings play a musical instrument.

11. After my relationship with Christ, my family is the most important part of my life.

12. I DO NOT have a twin sister although if you call me Amanda I will probably answer and not bother correcting you.

13. My best friend is my sister. We can have conversations without words and often finish each other's sentences unless of course we say the same thing at the same time.

14. The summer of 2006 changed my life forever. It was the summer that Jesus blessed us with a little Angel, Staci Grace, for eight precious weeks. Staci and I also share a birthday <3 .

15. I could probably tell you who wrote the music of a movie sooner than the actors/actress that play in it. Music makes or breaks a movie.

16. Books should have soundtracks.

17. I love Norman Rockwell paintings, the more you look at them the more you see (the funnier they get.)

18. I have so many hobbies that I don't have time to enjoy any of them extensively.

19. I simply detest shoe shopping. High heels and I don't get along. Why can't I wear cowboy boots 24/7?

20. I have kept a list of almost every book I've read since sometime in 2005.

21. My first boyfriend was Adam...He and I were great friends until I met Stuart. Recently, Adam was tragically run over by an unsuspecting truck. By the way...Adam was a cute little point and shoot fujifilm camera. Stuart is a Nikon D80 DSLR...

22. I do research for the fun of it. Before we had internet (sites like wikipedia) I read the encyclopedia for fun. Research meaning anything that may interest me at the moment.

23. I'm pretty detailed in what I do wether I'm cleaning or working on a project. It usually takes me twice as long to get something done, but I make sure it's done right.

24. When I was a kid I wanted to be in the army but I couldn't decide over becoming a pilot or regular foot soldier. Eventually, I decided on neither.

25. Lilacs are pretty much the ultimate...maybe even better than Roses.

26. I'm pretty proud to be Canadian. Most of my heritage is German. Although I can't speak the language very well, I can still understand a lot of it. One of my ancestors was a gypsy.

Some fun facts

I heard this a few days ago and thought I'd share it with you.  We serve an amazing God!!

Moses and the people were in the desert, but what was he going to do with them?

They had to be fed, and feeding 2 or 3 million people requires a lot of food.

According to the Quartermaster General in the Army, it is reported that Moses would have to have had 1500 tons of food each day. Do you know that to bring that much food each day, two freight trains, each at least a mile long, would be required?!

You must remember, they were out in the desert, so they would have to have firewood to use in cooking the food.  This would take 4000 tons of wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long, just for one day.

And just think, they were forty years in transit.

Oh yeah, they would have to have water. If they only had enough to drink and wash a few dishes (no bathing!!) it would take 11,000,000 gallons each day and a freight train with tank cars 1800 miles long...just to bring water!

They had to get across the Red Sea at night.  Now, if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be 800 miles long and would require 35 days and nights to get through. So, there had to be a space in the Red Sea, 3 miles wide so that they could walk 5000 abreast to get over in one night.

Each time they camped at the end of the day, a campground two-thirds the size of the state of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles long...think of it!!

Do you think Moses figured all this out before he left Egypt? I think not!

Moses believed in God, and God took care of these things for him.

Now do you think God has any problem taking care of all your needs??

Hope you're all have a blessed summer!

I Will Find You Again

I heard Karen Ritchey sing this song the other day... and it really touched my heart.

I Will Find You Again

I was there when you crossed over

To the dying part of living

I held your hand and slowly watched you go

Oh I know you’re someplace better than what I can imagine

But I can’t help the way I miss you so

If I have to knock on every mansion door

Walk miles of golden streets

Search among a million saints that rest at Jesus’ feet

I will run along the jasper walls, call your name upon the wind

I will find you again

I would never be so selfish as to pray you back from Heaven

So I could have you longer here with me

So I cherish every memory ‘cause it helps me to remember

That where you are is where I’m gonna be

If I have to knock on every mansion door

Walk miles of golden streets

Search among a million saints at Jesus’ feet

I will run along the jasper walls, call your name upon the wind

I will find you again

Bridge:

Save a seat for me at the table beside you

And tell everyone I’m on my way

Repeat chorus

Cousins

A few weeks back I was out for a walk out back and Jo, Beth, and our cousin Chloe saw me and decided to come along.  Since I had my camera with me...I took a couple shapshots.  The lighting isn't the greatest in some of the pictures because there's such a big contrast from the bright sun shining on the snow... But, I thought I'd share a couple of the pictures anyhow.

And this is how Beth plays when she's tired of standing but still wants to play with the pedal... (I know it's not the greatest angel...but I didn't want her to know I was taking the picture...)
